Amanda S. Amert is a partner in Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s Chicago office, and serves as the Chair of its ERISA litigation group. She focuses her practice on ERISA litigation and has a wide variety of business litigation, appellate and arbitration experience. Businesses rely on her for help with ERISA litigation and counseling, contract disputes and financial services litigation. Chambers USA and the Legal 500, among other directories, rank Amanda among the nation’s leading ERISA litigation practitioners. In 2018, and again in 2022, Crain’s named Amanda among Chicago’s “Notable Women Lawyers.”

Amanda is a former Chicago Debates board member, and is currently vice chair of the board of the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Family Services of Chicago, one of the first organizations in the United States to provide legal services regardless of an individual’s ability to pay. She is an alum of Leadership Greater Chicago, a 30-year-old non-profit organization that cultivates Chicago’s business, public and civic leaders through a deeper understanding of the issues facing the Chicago community. She maintains an active pro bono practice, which has included a range of civil, criminal and counseling matters. Amanda received her JD, cum laude, from Duke University School of Law and her BA, cum laude, from Williams College.

Amanda was president of the Williams College parliamentary debate team and was a policy debater at Madison High School in her home state of South Dakota. She is passionate about the transformative power of debate to open doors for students, and believes the work of Chicago Debates to provide that opportunity to students across Chicago is critically important.
