CDL Kicks Off Tournament Season
Sponsored by Querry & Harrow and IST Management Services
On the weekend of October 2 and 3, the Chicago Debate League kicked off their 2009-10 academic season with tournaments for each of its four conferences. The new LCC, which bridges the RCC and the city-centered Conferences “A” and “AA,” debated at its first joint tournament with the RCC at Morgan Park. The first Conference “A” tournament was held at Von Steuben and the first Conference “AA” tournament was held at the Chicago Vocational Career Academy.
The Conference “A” and “AA” tournaments were sponsored by Querrey & Harrow as well as IST Management Services. They provided financial support for the tournaments and had attorneys and staff serving as judges for debates and assisting with the judge table.
Querrey & Harrow is a 70-attorney multi-service law firm serving the Chicago metropolitan region, including Northwest Indiana. Michael Stillman, managing partner, took part in the opening assembly and offered encouraging and motivating words to the students before their first debates on the new topic. He noted afterward, “We were very pleased to be a sponsor of the opening event for this year. The energy of the participants and the preparation was very evident. We look forward to being involved for many years to come.”
