CDL debaters excited by season openers

Senior Raygene Brice of Marshall describes the friendships she’s made already this year through competition: “Starting off the year in debate, I felt the competition which made me debate harder. Teams surprised me with their wits and forced me to not only dig deep into the evidence but find some way to answer. After we battle with words, other teams often become great friends of mine. I look forward to every tournament because it’s like the league isn’t just tough competition but another way I can interact with different people. This is making my senior year the best!”

Junior Mercedes Hall of Daniel Hale Williams Prep shares Raygene’s enthusiasm for the community of learners in the CDL this year: “T1 and T2 were definitely memorable. Because I was starting new in varsity, I wanted to make good use of this opportunity and come into this year with some success. It was refreshing to see all my friends and their coaches again. Having everyone there for a completely new topic made the anticipation of these tournaments both heightened and pleasurable – and they didn’t fail to challenge us.”
