Chicago Debates Welcomes New Team Members

Chicago Debates is excited to welcome two new members to our team this month! Each new team member brings a unique set of skills and perspectives that are sure to help us as we continue to grow and develop.

Flynn Makuch is joining us as a Program Officer for School Support. Teaching and coaching policy debate is her passion, and she is excited to continue her work with Chicago Debates to help achieve the vision and mission of the organization. Flynn feels strongly that debate is one the best preparations for academic success for students, as well as empowering students to use their voices. As a prior debater from the Chicago area who received a scholarship to debate in college for the University of Texas at Austin, Flynn feels strongly about the value of debate as a tool for addressing educational inequity. She has previously worked with Chicago Debates as Tab Director at tournaments, as well as serving as the Co-Director for Chicago Debate Summer Institute. Additionally, she spent two years teaching debate in China from 2016-2018.

Davis Sullivan is joining us as Development Associate.  Davis comes to Chicago Debates with experience as a fundraiser for legal aid and arts education organizations. He graduated from Ohio University with a degree in economics in the spring of 2017, and recently completed a year of service as an Americorps VISTA volunteer. When he’s not working, he enjoys running, watching cooking videos on YouTube, and playing the 3 songs he has learned on guitar.
