Fall competitive season starts strong

The CDL high school season and CMSDL middle school season kicked off this fall with highly competitive tournaments across all conferences and students representing every area of Chicago.

Megan Baskin, coach at University of Chicago Charter School–Woodlawn Campus, views the start of the season as an important path to success at her school: “The success of our debate team has impact far beyond the team’s performance at tournaments and stands for something so much more for our school–a sense of pride, of possibility, and of unity that continues to strengthen the lives of our team and of our school. UCW is very proud of our team’s journey and where we will go in the future.”

According to senior Janae Meaders of Morgan Park High School, “This year in debate has challenged me to become a better leader and motivate my team to strive harder to achieve their goals in debate. I have high aspirations for this year in debate for both myself and my team; it would mean a lot to us as a team to finish this year as better people, students, and young intellectuals.”
