New Executive Director to Join CDC on August 1st

We are delighted to announce that our Board has unanimously approved the hiring of Dr. Toinette Gunn as the CDC’s next Executive Director, beginning August 1.
Dr. Toinette Gunn joins us with more than 20 years of experience as a seasoned nonprofit professional in human service and educational organizations. She has served in Executive Director roles with The Partnership to Educate and Advance Kids (PEAK) and Student Mentor Partners, and leadership roles at Boys Hope Girls Hope of Illinois and Chicago Scholars, where she has served most recently as Vice President of Programs.
Dr. Gunn is a native Chicagoan and a product of the Chicago Public School System. She was a first-generation college student and holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western Michigan University in Criminal Justice and Sociology, a Master of Arts in Counseling from Oakland University, and a PhD in Counseling Education from Oakland University. She is also a Chicago Urban League and University of Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business IMPACT Fellow.
Dr. Gunn has a deep passion for the education of Chicago youth and we’re excited that she’ll bring this passion to the Chicago Debate Commission.
