In this role, Marissa is the CEO of all things fundraising, development and everything in between! As the Director of Development, Marissa will build relationships with new and existing donors and work closely with the Executive Director and Governing Board in raising funds to close the educational opportunity gap for the students we serve.

Marissa is mission driven and has held diverse roles in different nonprofits throughout the state of Illinois. Before working at Chicago Debates, Marissa’s last role was at Christopher House, a family of schools that helps over 4,100 children and families in Chicago succeed in school, the workplace, and life.

Marissa has a B.S. in Recreation and Park Administration from Illinois State University and a MS in Recreation, Sport and Tourism from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

As a former debater, Marissa strongly believes in the Chicago Debates mission and is excited to work for an organization changing the lives of students in Chicago. Outside of work, Marissa enjoys reading in the park, traveling the country for concerts, spending time outside, and trying new restaurants in the city!
